The Control of Major Accidents Hazards Regulations 2015 was put into place on the 1st of June, 2015. The purpose is to prevent major accidents involving dangerous substances and limit the consequence to people and the environment of any accidents. It ensures you and your workplace comply with the regulations to ensure that people responsible for creating risks meet their responsibilities to manage them. It makes sure that your workplace has emergency arrangements and makes sure that they work.

If there are people living or working near a major hazard establishment, the operator needs to take to account their safety and the safety of the environment. Your workplace needs to have the correct safety signs displayed clearly for both staff and customers. This will also help employees identify the chemicals that are used in the workplace. The legislation also requires a workplace to provide basic information about their sites for public viewing.
